Miami Valley Gaming is still under the ownership of Delaware North and Churchill Downs Inc., and it holds a license from the Ohio State Racing Commission. The gambling venue is located halfway between Cincinnati and Dayton, just off I-75 at Exit 29.

Although the entire complex encomes over 186,000 square feet, the casino floor covers roughly 68,000. Patrons have access to over 1,800 video lottery terminals. The enclosed patio allows smoking and offers dozens of gambling machines.

Will Miami Valley Gaming operate a sportsbook?

It’s unclear at the moment, as state lawmakers only recently ed HB 29, legalizing sports betting in Ohio for residents older than 21. Although the bill has ed, state officials say a launch date is unlikely before January 2023. Regardless of when it happens, Miami Gaming Valley should be in line for a sports betting license, especially since it already accepts harness racing wagers.

Before Miami Valley Gaming opened, the area was known for the Lebanon Raceway, a half-mile harness track that hosted live races three times a week. In 2011, then-Gov. John Kasich allowed racetracks to install video lottery terminals, eventually turning them into racinos. In 2012, a t venture between Delaware North and Churchill Downs Inc. agreed to purchase the raceway and transfer its license to a new venue.

The new racino — Miami Valley Gaming — opened its doors on Dec. 12, 2013. In 2017, the racino underwent a $5 million expansion, adding a new outdoor gambling and smoking patio. The renovation also included a new high roller area with new VLTs and slot machines. In 2021, Ohio racinos and casinos broke revenue records by bringing in $2.11 billion. Going into December, Miami Valley Gaming in Lebanon, OH, reported $185.2 million in revenue.
